The KKK vs Islamic Fundamentalists

This in response to a discussion about the similarities our nation faces today in dealing with islamic terrorists and how we dealt with hate groups in the past - namely the KKK.  In other words, "how did the US get rid of the KKK, and how can that help us today in our attempt to rid our nation of islamic fundamentalists?"

I offer the following response:

Pretty sure the KKK is still around. But the way the USA rendered them an irrelevant organization, relegated to back rooms and secret meeting places was threefold: 1) They destroyed them publicly and exposed the truth of their intentions at every opportunity; 2) they passed legislation that made their acts against humanity illegal; and 3) they enforced those laws. Which is EXACTLY how the US government needs to attack the muslim extremists.


First, admit publicly and without apology that those people intent on the destruction of America (or anyone else) in the name of islam are wrong and that those who act on that allegiance are acting against the will of the American people and the US government. Second, pass legislation that specifically excludes muslim extremists from the protections afforded under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (in other words, it is fair game to discriminate against them at every turn). It should be very clear that people or organizations intent on destroying America and her citizens will not be protected under US law. And finally, hunt down, imprison, and execute any and all individuals caught planning, plotting, engaging in, or applauding any act of terror in the name of islam against America.

There are 2 ways to deal with a bully: laugh at them and hope that everyone around laughs with you until they run off with their tail between their legs (not an option with muslims considering their allegiance to the cause and their committment to furthering it), or beat the hell out of them. In the history of this nation, the only times we have been unsuccessful defeating an enemy was when we did not act with the full resolve of the American people and military. If we tiptoe around this we will lose. If we act with political correctness, we will lose. If we ignore this or chalk it up to a few religious fanatics, we will lose. But if we attack with the full force and might of the American legislature, judicial system, and military we will be victorious over the scourge of humanity known as islamic fundamentalists.
